Subject and correspondence file, 1963-1985.

Description: Dr. John Furlong was raised on a farm near Taconite, Minnesota. Upon his completion of high school in Grand Rapids, he worked as a tool and die maker and later as a teacher in a vocational school. At the age of thirty-eight, Furlong began his higher education receiving bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees from the University of Minnesota in the space of four years. Prior to coming to Stout, Dr. Furlong worked in school administration and was superintendent of the Greenway District 316 in Northern Minnesota. Furlong first served at Stout as Assistant to the President and later as Assistant to the Chancellor. In 1985 Furlong retired from the Stout administrative team. The bulk of this collection covers the 22 years (1963-1985) that Dr. Furlong served at Stout. Most of the papers reflect Furlong's professional responsibilities as a Stout administrator. In addition, there are some personal papers. Includes correspondence, minutes of meetings, and general school materials as well as information on athletics, Board of Visitors, Chancellor's office budget and other programs that were directly under the control of the Assistant to the Chancellor.
